GASTONIA - Police in Gastonia say a man busted for marijuana is now facing additional charges after he tried to smuggle some of it inside the jail... between his butt cheeks.
According to a police report from Gastonia Police, 27-year-old Jason Obrian Nichols was pulled over in a traffic stop along the 600 block of Lynhaven Drive on Tuesday evening around 6:38 p.m.
Police report finding pot inside Nichols' car and arresting him for Possession of Marijuana. When officers got him to prison, a strip search revealed that Nichols "concealed marijuana in between his butt cheeks."
Officers say Nichols had clenched his cheeks hard and would not release them, but officers eventually got him to unclench.
He was found with less than a half-ounce of marijuana in a clear plastic bag, valued at ten dollars, the report states.
Nichols was charged with possession of marijuana of less than a half-ounce, a misdemeanor charge. He was also slapped with an additional felony charge of possession in a prison or jail. Bond was set at $12,000 and has since been posted.
Nichols has two previous arrest in Gastonia with charges of assault inflicting serious injury, failure to appear and multiple probation violations from 2008.
